Mathematical Biology on the Mediterranean Conference

1-14 September 2019, University of the Aegean, Karlovasi, Samos, Greece

International Summer school, September 1-7

The Summer school will propose, from Sunday September 1 (arrival and registration in the afternoon) until Saturday September 7 (ending by noon) 5 lectures of 4 to 5 hours each, on different aspects of mathematical biology, given by 5 lecturers specialists of their fields:

The targeted audience are PhD students in mathematics and young or confirmed mathematicians. [In the limit of available room and funding, non-mathematicians coming from close disciplines and with an interest in mathematical biology may be also eligible.] The number of participants to the school will be limited to 60 (see the Deadlines for registration and fees). PhD students up to a maximum number of 40, on a first-come first-served basis according to fund availability and on recommendation from their supervisors, are eligible to be totally waived of charges: no registration fees nor local expenses, i.e., accommodation and most meals, for the school (as for the workshop). Participation of PhD students coming from regional universities (i.e., of the neighbouring Mediterranean region, e.g., Greek, Turkish, etc.) is encouraged, but by no means exclusive. Support for travelling expenses may further be asked from supporting institutions such as EMS, SMB, ESMTB, or others.

The school lectures will be given during the days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (morning only for Saturday). Wednesday until 5:30 p.m. will be reserved for a visit to the archeological sites of the island.

After the lectures, before and after dinner time, work sessions will be dedicated to exchanges and research talks on specialised topics by PhD students and other mathematicians.
